June General Meeting

We invite you to attend a crucial community meeting with Fire Chief Kristan Maurer, who has been leading our district since January 2020. Chief Maurer, a dedicated member of our fire service since 1999, has an extensive background in fire safety and public administration. She is also the Vice President of the Washington Fire Chiefs Association.

In this meeting, Chief Maurer will discuss the upcoming ballot proposition to restore the district's property tax levy to $1.50 per $1,000 of assessed valuation, which is essential for maintaining our fire and emergency services amid growing demand and inflation challenges.

Key Points:

  • Current Situation: As property values rise, levy amounts decrease, which restricts funding despite increased service demands.

  • Proposition Details: The ballot will propose a levy adjustment to ensure the district can continue to serve the community effectively.

  • Impact: The lid-lift is not a new tax but a return to the previously approved level. For a $400,000 home, this means an additional cost of about ten dollars a month.

Why Attend?

  • Learn about the fire district's financial needs and service challenges.

  • Understand the impact of the proposed levy on your property taxes and community safety.

  • Participate in a Q&A session with Chief Maurer to address your concerns and questions.

Your participation and support are crucial for the safety and well-being of our community. Don't miss this opportunity to stay informed and engaged with our local fire services.
