The Clark Regional Wastewater District (District) Board of Commissioners recently awarded a $1.86 million contract to Nutter Corporation Inc. of Vancouver, WA for construction of the Highway 99 Sewer South project. The project includes installation of approximately 3,400 lineal feet of new gravity trunk sewer in Highway 99 between NE 63rd Street and NE 78th Street. The new pipe replaces an existing aged sewer line that was installed in the late 1960s and serves businesses along the east side of Highway 99. Funding for the project comes from the District’s Restoration and Replacement (R&R) account which is generated through customer rates.
SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to helping small businesses get off the ground, grow and achieve their goals through education and mentorship. For over fifty years they have been helping businesses just like those in the Hazel Dell/Salmon Creek Business Associated with all kinds our business consulting and advice services.

The date is set (actually, it’s always set – the Third Saturday in May – Armed Forces Day!), so mark your calendars and get ready for this iconic community event. This years theme is “Celebrate Service.” We will be honoring those in our community that provide the services we depend on. The 2016 Grand Marshals will be The Streissguth Family, as our annual parade will especially focus on their contributions to the Parade, and in memory of former Fire Chief Dick Streissguth, who passed away in December. His family has participated in the Hazel Dell Parade of Bands for years, proudly chauffeuring the vintage fire equipment that was so dear to his heart.
The parade starts at 10:30, but there will be a Fun Run, sponsored by the Salmon Creek Kiwanis, to lead off the festivities beginning at 10:00 AM.
The Clark Regional Wastewater District will be replacing its sanitary sewer along Highway 99, between NE 63rd Street and NE 78th Street. The project will begin after the Hazel Dell parade in mid-May 2016 and continue into October. This sewer is located along the eastern side and serves businesses on that side as well. The District wants to complete this work before Clark County begins its planned pedestrian, bicycle, landscaping and pavement improvements along this section of Highway 99 in 2016 and 2017. For the 27th consecutive year, every year since 1988, Clark Regional Wastewater District has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. The certificate of achievement recognizes excellence and transparency in financial reporting and governmental accounting. The award is granted by the Government Finance Officers Association (‘GFOA’) for the District’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for fiscal year 2014.
The CAFR is developed to provide meaningful financial information to the public who are interested in the District’s financial position at fiscal year-end. In addition to the financial statements, it provides information pertaining to the District’s activities through the year and upcoming events, allowing readers themselves to gain a broader overview of the financial decisions of the District.
